So you might notice that things look a little different around here… and I love it! Being Boutique has been in the works for well over a year now and in the time leading up to the launch the “look” has changed as it was further and further refined to reflect the heart of the boutique business mentality. However, the quest to find the perfect brand can quickly become a black hole, as I soon realized. I wouldn’t know the right one until after getting feedback from you, the readers, and finding the true “voice” and “personality” for Being Boutique.
From the beginning I knew that I wanted Being Boutique to make you think of that cute little shop around the corner, yet have a clean, modern vibe. Since the big launch (and giveaway!) last month I found that the design and brand were a little too modern and didn’t showcase the more artistic, inspirational side very well. So back to the branding board. After visiting countless websites and resources, I came across these favorites that instantly stood up and shouted “ADMIT IT! YOU LOVE THIS!”
From those inspirations I first came up with the color scheme:
For the font, I wanted something very classic and could easily transfer between web and print mediums:
Then I wanted to bring in a bit of the artistic flair with a watercolor look, ultimately coming up with the final logo:
For the website, I decided to go with a customizable template that had a modern look, responsive design, but could be adapted to my brand.
Next came the hours and hours of customizing and updating the archive graphics to the current branding. There are still a few tweaks to be made, as well as updating the social media sites, but all in all I ADORE this new and improved brand (obviously) and am excited for everything the future holds. Speaking of which, want a peek at what is coming up here at Being Boutique?
In the next few months you’ll see…
A fabulous interview & feature with the oh-so-talented Michelle Moore
The unveiling of a top-secret eBook (shhhh!)
No. 5 in the How to Be a Boutique Photographer Series
A Branding Party for one lucky reader
The introduction of video tutorials + interviews
Needless to say, I’m stoked and I can’t wait to share these amazing things with you. In the mean time, comment below and let me know what you think of the new website and brand! What’s more, let me know how I can continue to improve your experience here at Being Boutique and what you would like to see hit the blog in the future! And thank you for making all this possible.
