Celebrating Childhood | Inspired Session with Goldenview Photography

There is something so special and magical about children’s portraits. Photographer Karina Vaandering of Goldenview Photography has the ability to capture this special time of innocence and wide-eyed wonder, and she shares that in today’s Featured Session. During the interview Karina shares how she loves to infuse her sessions with personality and color and you can see that in each of the images featured below. From the stylish hairpieces to the playful props this session “pops!”

Being Boutique: We just love your work! Can you share a little more about yourself?
I am the owner/photographer of Goldenview Photography, based out of Brantford, Ontario. I am married to my amazing husband, Brian, and we will be celebrating our 5 year anniversary this year! We have an adorable puppy named Roxy. Really, I just love all things creative. When I am not doing photography, I enjoy working in the garden, redecorating my house, and refinishing old furniture.

Being Boutique: You create beautiful images! What are your guiding business principles?
Fair pricing, amazing quality in products, and great customer service.

Being Boutique: How have you managed to make your business and services stand out from the crowd?
I strive to connect with my clients and make it a meaningful event. I help them make their sessions more personal by incorporating props and locations that are special to them.

Being Boutique: It sounds like you really do go that extra step for your clients and make their experience truly special. What has been your most rewarding moment as a photographer?
Last year I photographed a wedding for a couple who are actually my cousins. The bride’s father was very sick so they planned a last minute wedding so he could walk his daughter down the aisle. It was the most amazing moment for me as a photographer to provide them with these beautiful memories as a family! Then later in the year they still did the wedding with all friends and family. I walked away crying from that wedding thinking this is why I do what I do!

Being Boutique: What three things do you make sure to always do with every session?
Have fun, laugh and make sure my clients feel comfortable.

Being Boutique: Do you have a favorite lens?
It’s a tie between my Nikon 50mm 1.4 and my Nikon 70-200mm 2.8

Being Boutique: Who has been your favorite client to work with?
I don’t really have one specific favorite. I really enjoy different aspects of each client’s personality.  Each couple/family is unique and I love getting to know them and capturing their lives on camera.

Being Boutique: What made this session so special that you wanted to share it with us?
This session was special to me because these kids are my cousins.  I absolutely adore them! I am probably biased but they are the cutest munchkins. I love getting to photograph children who have a lot of personality and love to smile. I also love shooting in the fall because of the amazing colors.

Being Boutique: What’s something few people know about you?
I love to go deep sea fishing in the Florida Keys.

Being Boutique: If you weren’t a photographer, what would you want to be?
I would love to run a scuba diving/snorkeling guide boat in the Caribbean. I LOVE the ocean and dream of living by the water.

Being Boutique: Thank you for sharing this session with us! What are your big plans for the year?
To do more styled shoots with my clients. I have so many ideas of locations and props I want to incorporate in my sessions. Hopefully you will see them on my blog soon!

Thank you for sharing this session with us, Karina! We can’t wait to see all your new ideas and styled sessions in the coming months!
